Stay At Home: The Prequel – Melrose, MA January, 2015

A little over five years ago, the New England region was the recipient of several rounds of big snowstorms, including a blizzard at the end of January -I believe it was the end of that month- that caused the governor of Massachusetts to order everyone outside of essential personnel off the roads and stay home (part of that sound familiar?). Well, unlike our recent situation, I actually did venture out to wander around my hometown of Melrose to take pictures. I figure the most the authorities would do is just roll their eyes at me (actually, the ones I encountered just waved).

The quiet that blanketed my hometown that snowy January day was slightly unsettling, but it certainly wasn’t in the same league as what I felt when walking through downtown Boston in late March or downtown Melrose itself a few days ago.

Finding myself in a rather down mood over the past few days, I decided to go back and do some work on older photos in the hopes of occupying myself with something other than the news. The following pics are the first results.

As always, I hope you enjoy the photos. I also hope you, your friends and family are all healthy and safely at home. Take care.

New Camera Test – 12.18.19

Hi all,

It’s been several weeks since I posted photos, and for that I apologize. I had a lot of things to sort through following my father’s passing -still am, actually- and just needed to take a break from quite a few things.

One thing I did do during that time was pick up a new camera (well, new for me): a Canon 5D Mark IV. I did so last evening, but didn’t get a chance to get outside and test it due to some nasty weather in the area. Well, that and I wanted to watch The Empire Strikes Back for the thousandth time, but that’s beside the point.

So, this evening as I was heading home from the grocery store, I decided to test the camera out at a cemetery halfway between the house and store in Wakefield, MA. The following four images are the result of said tests. Suffice to say, I’m really liking this new purchase.

January 2020 will be the launch of a few new directions for me in terms of photography. I will share the news once the new year comes around.

Stay Tuned…

Summer’s End: Nubble and Portland Head Lighthouses 9/2/16- 9/3/16

As summer winds down, what better way to capture it than to head up to my favorite getaway spot: Maine! The following shots were taken over the past two nights, one night at the Nubble Lighthouse and the other, Portland Head Lighthouse. I was at both last year -you can find those pics elsewhere on this blog-, but I wanted to capture these beauties at sunset.
